London Build 2015 and The London Construction Awards
London Build 2015 took place at the O2 Arena on the 18th and 19th June, attracting over 10000 industry attendees and thousands more visitors including architects, surveyors, government agencies, building managers amongst many others. As a showcase for construction experts it is an ideal setting for Rawlplug to demonstrate its success and dedication to the industry.
The London Construction Awards celebrate the finest achievements in construction in the London area. Identifying those who are industry leaders in quality, innovation and service, the awards are a snapshot of how the industry is moving forwards, developing and embracing new ideas and responsibilities.
Entries were many and varied, so it is testament to Rawlplug’s creative and comprehensive approach to sustainability that we were shortlisted for the award.
Rawlplug’s nomination for the London Sustainability Award represents strong recognition of our ongoing commitment to sustainability.
Sustainability is at the heart of Rawlplug’s business. We fully understand that to be a successful, effective and responsible business today and into the future, sustainability needs to permeate our whole approach to what we do and how we do it.
Rawlplug is proud of the recent steps we have taken towards sustainable growth. Nomination for the London Sustainability Award is directly due to the hard work and imagination which goes into each new development.
Rawlplug’s recent sustainability projects
Our recent projects include:
- Redesigning our packaging and distribution processes leading to a calculated yearly saving of 3000 truck journeys and a million litres of fuel. This has reduced CO2 emissions by 2800 tonnes per year as a result.
- Implementing a new packaging and labelling system:
The use of high-quality, fully recyclable corrugated cardboard in our packaging reduces the impact it has on the environment.
Water-based inks and paints and varnishes derived from renewable resources eliminate the use of heavy metal and petroleum-based products.
Packaging design which reduces materials and ink required by incorporating user-friendly colour-coded labels containing instructions, descriptions or technical information. This innovation is measurably more efficient than its industry counterparts.
- Introducing an Environmental Policy across the entire organisation. This aims to educate employees on how to help Rawlplug achieve its environmental goals by concentrating on individual environmental, as well as corporate, responsibility.
- Contributing to the communities of which we are a part. Rawlplug supports those in need at a practical level. We also promote, encourage and deliver education and training to students, clients and stakeholders alike.
Rawlplug’s involvement in the London Sustainability Award demonstrates that it stands out amongst its competitors as a company which believes that the social responsibility of business needs to have positive, practical and measurable results.
Sustainability is built into the entire lifecycle of Rawlplug products and operations.
