Modeco MTB Team concludes a successful 2015

After more than a dozen professional races and over 2,000km of mountain cycling across Europe, the Modeco MTB Team supported by Rawlplug is pleased with its results at the end of the 2015 cycling season.

The Modeco MTB Team has had an extremely busy 2015. The team took part in competition for the first time on April 18th, with the beginning of the Bike Marathon series. “Last season lasted seven months, during which we started in all ten professional Bike Marathon races and other events in Poland, the Czech Republic and France,” says Bartosz Prekiel, Regional Support Manager at Rawlplug and Modeco MTB Team cyclist. “For some of the team it was their first real cycling season. With each start our team gained skill and experience, which translated into higher places in the final standings. This bodes well for the new season.”

Fun, passion, and personal achievement

The Modeco MTB Team consists of fourteen amateurs, for whom mountain biking is not only a way to spend free time, but also a passion. As a result, the team caters for everyone - from those who are just starting their adventure with MTB to experienced riders. Last season the Modeco MTB Team fared best during the June event in Jelenia Góra - taking 27th place out of 77 classified teams in the ‘OPEN’ category. At the end of the season a summary of the results of all Bike Marathon races in the ’OPEN’ category put the team in an impressive 49th place out of 159 registered teams. In the ’SPORT’ category the team was ranked 55th out of 119 teams. The best result in the individual classification came from Bartek Sokół, who finished the season in 5th place in his age category at the Mini distance. Apart from the results of the Bike Marathon, special mention should be given to Eric Visentin, who claimed 829th place out of the 2,000 competing cyclists in the prestigious Roc d'Azur race in France.

Looking ahead to the new season

After the winter rest period the Modeco MTB Team plans to take on further challenges in the coming year. “In the spring we intend to start in the inaugural race of 2016 Bike Marathon,” says Bartosz Prekiel. “The support we received from Rawlplug in 2015 allowed us to build an ambitious and competitive team, so in 2016 we will raise the bar even higher.” The team is open to new members who are talented cyclists looking to improve their skills over the next year.
