As a company that is growing – both in number of employees and geographic presence – Rawlplug’s fleet of vehicles contributes a significant proportion of the company’s overall carbon footprint. And while the automotive industry continues to improve the efficiency of today’s cars, we cannot rely solely on technological advances to help reduce the environmental impact of our fleet of company cars.
Our fleet today
The fleet of the Rawlplug Group is almost 400 vehicles. Dynamic expansion of whole organisation poses new challenges for the responsible management of vehicles and reducing their impact on the environment.
When purchasing new vehicles our decisions are guided by a rigorous analysis of the carbon determined by the producers on the basis of specialized, advanced research. The results are for us one of the most important parameters in choosing the offer.
Changes in the fleet undertaken in 2010-2014 allowed us to meet the commitment to standards of European emission standards Euro5. In 2015, as the one of the first companies in the industry, we decided to include our fleet Toyota hybrid cars produced according to the highest standard emission Euro6. These vehicles emit far less carbon dioxide than cars of the same class with gasoline or diesel. Importantly, also limit the formation of harmful noise.
More information about the new hybrid cars can be found in the news archive.
How do we manage our fleet
From several years Rawlplug has a fleet management system. Thanks to it we are able to continuously monitor, analyze and optimize all the parameters related to feet operation.
Detailed analysis of indicators such as fuel consumption, mileage, maintenance costs and careful planning of services, allow us to evaluate and thus effectively limit the impact of our fleet on the environment.
To constantly improve the level of efficiency of fleet operation, we carry out its cyclical modernization, introducing the latest available on the market technological solutions.
Another, important activity that allows us to efficiently manage the fleet is conducting training to promote the economic, ecological and safe driving – so far participated in such training was attended by over 100 employees.
Financial cost vs. environmental benefit
The desire to reduce the negative impact of our fleet on the environment in the context of our management policy requires continuous investment. We are aware that the perception of all action taken seems expensive only in the short term. The choice of modern vehicles that meet the highest emission standards, promotion of eco-driving training supported by cyclical and thought out, planned management allow us to get the right results.
Whereas our century-old tradition and constantly contributing to social development, we are confident that the investments we now realize the management of our fleet in the future will undoubtedly beneficial for us and - most importantly - for the environment.
